Tags: From Dracula's Secret Cooking Book: Garlic Pork with Tomatoes and Thyme, food,

After unraveling the plans that wanted him taken prisoner, Vlad went, in summer time, towards the South to cross the Danube. Followed by his soldiers dressed as Turks, Tepes, who we remind you spoke a perfect Ottomans’ language, managed to mislead the guardians of Nicopole Fortress and made them open the gates for him. There followed the slaughter, obviously, yet Wallachians knew how to keep themselves safe, following previously established signs. Tepes and the spearhead, tired of all the fighting, feasted while watching the “evening show” – prisoners’ impalement. Vlad was probably well surprised when seeing that the fortress’ cellars hosted large great abundance pork meat, a forbidden treat for the Muslims. The feast made it to the chronicles having as trademark this simple recipe of garlic pork with tomatoes and thyme.

Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:
- 1 kg pork
- 2 tbsp oil
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- 5 average tomatoes
- salt, pepper and thyme to taste
- 1 bunch of parsley.

Directions:
Cut the meat in small pieces and fry it in hot oil.
Add the crushed garlic, the salt, the pepper, the thyme and the finely diced tomatoes. Simmer for 25 minutes and, in the end, sprinkle the chopped parsley on top.

Enjoy your meal!
